Jeanie is the 'poster child' for SENS Vision. It is working so well for her. She now consistently checks in with the camera, and the majority of time checks in with the camera on any guests she has over. She's now up to 4 hours of alone time (using SENS Vision), and we're hoping to increase that. It cuts down on power struggles she had with staff and when there was an issue between her and the coordinator, we used the video to review their interaction. We then used that information to do some training with the coordinator and it's now going much better between them. Jeanie likes the independence and the cost savings is allowing us to accommodate the rate cuts. Eventually we may be able to further lower her rate. When you add the cost of taxes and benefits on to the hourly wage for staff, there's a big savings with SENS Vision. It makes a huge difference when you are paying 1/3 – 1/4 the hourly rate.

Speaking about supported apartment services using Sengistix technology. - We have had wonderful feedback. Not just from (IDT) members, which is wonderful, from the county, which is wonderful; but the most amount of the positive feedback we have gotten is from the people that are living there. They are so excited to be living in their own apartments. People always ask, well what about the technology, doesn't that scare them, don't they feel like big brother is watching? First of all, in our setting, we have no cameras. Everything is a motion detector, or a sensor that reads when a door opens or closes, or when a med box or med cupboard is opened or closed. We don't have anything that allows us to look into the apartments. If we need to look in, that means we're knocking on the door, and the people are letting us into their apartments. So, the best feedback we've gotten is from the people that live there. And that's why we do the job that we do. One of the pieces of feedback I got from the owner of our company is that he's never been so overwhelmed by so many people who wanted to stop and talk to him and thank him for the opportunity of being able to live out on their own. These are people who had lived with their parents, or lived in a waivered site, people who had lived in an apartment but it didn't work, because they didn't have enough supports – they were very thankful to have those supports in place.

We haven't replaced staff as a result of this, but it has enhanced peace of mind for the staff and some independence for the people living at these locations. In fact, at one of our apartment settings, at the intake, they found out the elopement issues of an individual. We had no idea before then that there were these issues, so the apartment setting really wasn't the best location, but we had already used Sengistix for about a year, so we talked to Drew (Sengistix Account Executive) and were able to come up with a solution. Again, we had some development to get it to work, but now this person is living independently and in their own apartment with the use of Sengistix.
